Cool series. interesting how the ’65 one is so ornate/expensive looking, the ’80s one is so simple and disposable while the modern one is so… pretentious? (That said, surely it needs two or three more blades and a couple of additional aloe vera and menthol strips?)
The biggest difference is the cost and sharpness of the blades. Today’s replacement blades are almost as expensive as the razor but you rarely cut yourself anymore. The old blades were a nightmare. Each time I shaved myself I looked like character from SAW V.
Interesting subject. Most men (in London anyway) only shave every 3 or 4 days relying on the ‘rough’ look to stay fashionable. I have a feeling the price of blades has something to do with it though. 8 blades now cost me over 1.5 times the monthly rent I was paying in 1963. $1,243 for a packet of blades in 2053 anyone?
