  • paul boast

    paul boast

a stark reality of what some people have to face in life , corrupt governments and lack of proper services are to blame for this man searching maybe for food, or something he can sell …...i will praise the day when governments can actually see what is happening to some of our societies…....great capture and very apt for the world we sometimes dont want to see or own up to.

Thank you Sorin. Despite the recent debate regarding what constitutes art and whether only saleable works should be displayed, I am glad that you have posted this. I struggled for hours as to whether I should post my “Pop’ pics or not, and now I see this.

A picture is worth a thousand words and if we can use those pictures to stir social conscience, then sometimes that is the greatest gift that we can give the world. We may not be able to do much in any other way, but at least our pics let others know that we are aware, and care.

    Thank you again.

Life is not fair , its true .
But I wondered looking at the photograph , the man to me doesnt look unhappy . Who is to judge who is more peaceful , the man here or the man sailing past in his mercedes , terrified of losing his wealth ?
I dont know , I dont have the answer .
But your picture made me think of the question .Thank you

Thought-provoking photos & whether or not anyone can judge if this man ‘wants’ to be living this way the artist has his artistic license to title their pieces (or not) whatever they want to. Having been homeless, I don’t ever think i’d want to go back – especially as i get older. Everything is more difficult…

As an artist sometimes leaving things untitled let’s others’ draw their own conclusions yet I was taught to always title works. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Semantics…ugh…If I can’t think of a title, I sometimes just name the piece the first thing that comes to mind. That gets the viewer really thinking. IMO the piece is about the piece, not the title.

That is the point, the ‘fun’, the inspiration and the duty of the artist. To show the world to you through their eyes…as for the lens it has not opinion nor judgement.

    Photo-essays would be a great idea…
Thanks for making me think & knowing I don’t want to go back there nor look forward to a future of dumpster diving. I didn’t meet any people who enjoyed it, personally…

    peace

Very Moving! It is hard, for those who slip through the cracks! I have been told that my Grandmother would help people, all that she could, and that she herself did not have much! With 13 kids, I can only imagine how hard it was then! We live is a better world, now! I hope to follow my Grandmothers kindness, and help make the world a even better place to be! Your image should be in the papers, or somewhere more people will think about their fellow man!
