Hi there, Bonjour and Salam and thanks for stopping by. I was born and raised in the state of Vaud in Switzerland, to an Iranian mother and Swiss father. Growing up I enjoyed nature, people and the arts. I moved to the U.S. when I was a teenager, at which point I became fascinated with languages, travel and different cultures. At 14, I took my first trip to Italy and it was then and there that I started noticing things and people I wanted to photograph. Photography remained a favorite hobby of mine through both high school and my college days in San Diego, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude and was awarded the title of Outstanding Advertising Graduate. After college, I worked in advertising and marketing for some time and eventually worked my way up to marketing manager for an online travel publisher. And when I dared to use my two-weeks paid vacation, my little Canon PowerShot A630 (yes, it’s a wimpy little camera, but I love it) was always glued to the palm of my hand. I still have that little camera today, but I’ve graduated and moved on to an Olympus G3 which definitely gets the job done!
I get a lot of joy and satisfaction from photography; it brings me true peace. All of my photos are dedicated to my amazing, youthful, beautiful, and charismatic mother who passed away from breast cancer in 2008 and was a huge fan of my work. One thing she always told me was, “Do what makes you happy.” It makes me happy to share my photos with you and donate 10% of my proceeds to a unique cause each year in honor of my mom – “The Goddess of Pericaland.”
