Short (1-inch) tubular corkscrew or spiral-shaped pasta, native to southern Italy. Cavatappi are used in entrées, side dishes, baked dishes and pasta salads. They work with just about any type of sauce. in a spiral tube shape. Elsewhere in Italy they are known as cellentani, spirali and tortiglione; some English speakers call them double elbows. They usually have rigati (lines or grooves on the outside surface).Read more
