Throughout history, people have been separated from their families by the need to travel to find work opportunities to support their families in their homeland, to fight in wars, and to follow their dreams. Often this meant missing watching children grow, and losing touch with the day to day realities of those that they love back home. Since the advent of the Internet and programmes such as Skype, which make it affordable to talk to your family regularly, it is now possible to keep those connections alive. The inspiration for this piece comes from the story of a father who worked overseas 6 months of the year but still read a bedtime story to his child everynight.
