This is the shoreline along a portion of the coastal trail in the Lake Superior Provincial Park. Painted on the sides of the sheer cliff wall at about eye level are Indian Petroglyphs that are a few hundred years old. I hadn’t been to this part of the park in several years so I thought I’d visit. As you can see the ledge to walk along is not very wide at the base of the cliff and it is slippery. Signs warn you of the possibility of death or serious injury if a wave should catch you unexpectedly. There have been deaths. I spoke to the Park ranger who advised that a few days before my visit water from the waves reached 3/4 up the cliff face. Apart from that I enjoyed the hike and the scenery. This photo combined three photos shot with different shutter speeds (hdr).

I’ll bet if translated, the petroglyphs would read of how beautiful this place was and the honour the natives felt at having visited it!! Beautiful shot!!
Thanks for the comment Deb. Well if the petroglyphs don’t translate as you have suggested, I’m sure the natives thought it each time they visited.
As always, a stunning image. the composition is breathtaking my friend.
Thanks Peter. Always good to hear from you. Its been a while since I posted. I was away in France for a bit hoping to post those photos, but I lost both memory cards holding almost all those photos. Fortunately I got up to the Sault and now have something new to post.
