An Ocean Scene

A view of an ocean scene one early morning at Curumbin Beach Qld inspired me to write this poem.

LISTEN: Can you hear the crash of the waves as they splash on the sand at the beach?
Can you hear the cry of the gulls when they spy the fish in the pool among the rocks on the sandy shore?

FEEL: Can you feel the icy cold waves on the tips of your toes and the salty sea spray as it lands on your nose?
Can you feel the sand on your feet and the seaweed as it sweeps past your legs when you paddle and splash in the shallow waves along the beach?

SMELL: Can you smell it? The salt in the wind and the bait that the fishermen use as they swing their lines out in the deep aqua sea?

LOOK: Look outwards! Look at the sparkling blue ocean as the sun shines on the waves; turning the water into glistening diamonds. Can you see and appreciate the colours of the different blues and greens of the ocean? The cream coloured sands and the snowy white froth of the waves as they splash on the brown grey rocks on the golden shores?

PEACE: Can you feel the peace in your heart as you know that God has given you this as a gift to enjoy? Here you can forget about man’s cruelty to man and know that your soul can communicate with God and know that life is really worth living—-as you gaze out on this ocean scene. Thank-you God for your Creation. by Sonya Holford
