TREE OF LIFE in SoJie 3

MY WORK HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR SoJie 3!

THE TREE OF LIFE
by Sonya Smith

Join me at the Juried Invitational Exhibition…

I am very excited to have been selected from out of over 30,000 works of art to display my work in SoJie 3. SoJie 3 takes its name from the Solo Exhibition group’s Juried Invitational Exhibition. This month is only the 3rd one, ever, and 56 other artists, besides myself, are represented.

Winners of the invitational will be announced on June 2nd, when a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in three categories: digital art, photography, and traditional art.

Non members, as well as members, ARE welcome to view all of the work nominated. So I hope that you will click the show banner, above, and follow the link to view my fellow exhibitors. The works are shown “gallery size” and are beautiful, seen together.

If you do not belong to the group, Solo Exhibition, you cannot participate in commenting; and joining to comment is not encouraged. But you CAN lend support by commenting in my journal, here about the show.

THIS JOURNAL IS ALSO PART OF A WEB RING. You can also follow other artists involved, by clicking on the WEB RING BADGE below. You don’t need to be a member of Solo Exhibition to show your support, this web ring is especially for non members! Thank you!

Welcome to the RING, Sonya! Congratulations on your selection to Solo’s 3rd Juried Invitational Exhibition.

Your Charcoal drawing on paper, “Tree of Life”, representing women united by their ability to mother and nurture the next generation is an admirable piece, Sonya. I can see where you represent women who look to be of different races and cultures. The tree symbol in the middle is a great metaphor for the growth of a woman’s family, and the growth, ultimately, of nations who are influenced by these children who eventually grow up with the values taught by their parents. It’s branches also unify the women, themselves, in what you seem to show as a kind of manifest destiny.

We have Helene Kippert, one of our official three Nominators for SoJie 3, to thank for selecting your fine work for the show. All the best!

    —Frannie

  • Dear Frannie,
Wow, I’m so thrilled to be here… Thank you Solo, Frannie, Maxy and of course Helene Keppert for nominating my work.

Thank you so much for your words, you have summed up what I was saying so perfectly….

I run art workshops with Liverpool Women’s Resource Centre…. I get to meet so many different women from many different life paths. One thing that really hits me in the face is our similarities inspite of our differences…

To cut a long story short…. My life journey along with my observations of life and the world has led me to start my own community group called Whys Wise Women (www). We question, We become Wise, We are Women..

We are the hands that shape the future… If women can be strong, determined and true…. we can make a huge difference… that can reach across all mankind and our world…

From little things big things grow…….
