7 Codes of Bushidō
From the Warrior collection, this contemporary Japanese painting is bold in red and white. The Japanese kanji characters in this painting represent the Seven Codes of Bushidō.
Bushidō means The Way of the Warrior, the unwritten code of conduct for the samurai warrior of ancient Japanese, and includes:
Gi – Justice
Yū – Bravery
Jin – Benevolence
Rei – Politeness
Makoto – Veracity
Meiyo – Honor
Chūgi – Loyalty
To some extent, the Bushidō code is similar to the concept of chivalry.
The original painting was made with artist-grade acrylics on canvas by the Canadian contemporary artist, Soniei.
