for Jesus, for Jesus
I made a cross for Jesus
And someday we’ll fly home.’
Linaji
Can you hear the small girl singing
As she makes her sparkling cross?
Can you see her concentration
As she shines it with a cloth?
She’s taken all that’s bright and sparkling
Lovingly from her drawer
She’s put it all into the cross
It’s made her spirit soar.
You know. she hides an awful secret
In her gentle little soul
She lives her life to please her Lord
To fill such a painful hole.
She knows from times at Jesus’ knee
That all things come from love
And deep inside He speaks her name
And she gains her strength from this game:
She closes eyes and smiles with joy
And settles deep inside
To find that precious other thing-
That place where truth abides.
For she has great imagination
Where her truth and love dwell deep
And this is her emancipation
From the secret she must keep.
This ‘hidey-hole’ deep in herself is
Another secret too
From all who would destroy a child
So innocent and true.
She keeps the space where she can go
When life would be too sad
And she begins to know her name
And all that makes her glad.
She finds she is a strong one
And she grows in truth and Grace
It keeps her sane and real inside
She grows in light. to face
Reality, both good and harsh
She’s strong, she knows her name
And all that means just who she is
Her beauty, her creative flame.
She played the game of ‘go inside’
Far from the fear and dark
And heard her name whispered deep
Deep down
Till she could speak and know her
heart.
She still goes deep to that strong
Space
Where truth and love remain
To guide her soul and creative life
Where she grows again and again.

You and Lina make a great team Song…the piece is sad because the seed for it has happened to so many of us and hopeful because there is a safe place to go where there is no “victim” like Lina talked about in her posts. My favorite line in your work (and there are many I love) is “That place where truth abides.” Your heart, soul and spirit are beautifully evident in this piece : )

Thank you Lynn, as always your comments are very helpful. I know that this space where I could ‘go inside’ kept me sane. I think you know that place or one similar. Blessings. :0) Jodi

Beautiful and poignant beyond compare, Lynn.
And I’m so glad to see that Lina appreciates its masterful story built from her seed of verse and happenstance.
