Skye, our shih Tzu/Jack Russell, loves to come and get doggy snacks and nice coats and things at the pet shop and she recently found the mice and gerbil cages. Great entertainment for her in watching these little creatures scurry around.

this is a hoot – has Wiley contacted you? I gave him your pseudonym yesterday….
Haven’t heard from Wiley for a couple of weeks. Is he on RB now?I’d love to see any work he does. :0) J
awww..so cute, Sherri
Thanks Sherri, She is funny isn’t she…:0) Song
Don’t ya just wonder what might be going through their little brains as they view something like this. . .maybe, “lunch”! LOL! Cute photo. :-)
I should add, we used to have guinea pigs, usually 2 at a time. A friend made a very nice large cage which we kept on the floor underneath the overhang of our kitchen counter. We also had a golden retriever during most of that time. Our golden would obviously be very curious and was always sniffing around the cage which we kept covered with closet shelving turned upside down which put grates over the cage and was too heavy for her to move. As time went on we started trusting her with the guinea pigs so started leaving the cover off. One day we returned home after an outing and here one of the guinea pigs was very wet, but very much alive (probably traumatized). She apparently had “licked” the guinea pig but that was the extent of it. There was only that one episode that we were aware of, but for some reason she realized that they were friends, not “lunch”!
I wonder if your golden thought it was a puppy? Our animals are so amazing the connections they make which are so unexpected, both for good or for ill. I have no idea what makes Skye tick, but she does tick all the time!..lol :0) Song
How cute!! I wish I could take Quinn to the pet store but he gets car sick so he can’t go that far without me having to drug him! He would love it though!
Our pet shop is huge and part of a chain which also has a vet surgery there as well. Skye loves it there. All the nice smells and chews etc. and the staff tend to reward her with treats. But only recently has she discovered the rabbits and gerbils and mice. She is totally alert and curious now. :0) Song
Awww, Do I hear Skye singing: “How much is that gerbil in the window?” :))
You definitely have her sussed…lol. :0) Song
Your cohosts,Cee and Chris
Thanks again for continueing to accept my work. :0) Song
What a great photo, Jodi…this reminded me for some reason of Susann’s gerbil…or maybe a hamster? Anyhow when the little thing died we had a grand funeral for Susann’s precious little pet complete with eulogies and songs up there in the Mountains…it is a beautiful memory!
When the Farras were living in Berkshire England (where Susanne was born) Jody and Martha Pulkingham and Anna Withey had found a bird in the garden and we had just lost a member of the community to cancer and been through her funeral, etc. and so these girls when the bird died, held a lovely funeral for it with all of the community (over 140 of us) attending. Children somehow have a knack for marking important things with true grace and charm.
PS: I love all your photos of Skye … your love for her shows!
Oh yes! You are so right about the children! They sure do have that knack…I think it was Jody’s idea to have Susanny’s little pet be seen off in grand style…and so it was.
The children, they are the ones who truly understand the Language of the Heart…I think we forget how to hear or speak it as we grow older…not sure why that is.
Thank you for sharing that story, I appreciate it greatly. Some of my clearest memories of Jody are the evenings she’d be out calling her dog to come in and get dinner. “MOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYEEEEE”…it was so sweet….and sometimes I’d see her playing with Molly not knowing she was being observed. Yep, a beautiful young one with a beautiful heart, and that Molly dog she understood, she was a most awesome dog. What great memories! Thanks for reminding me! … mc
