The sky is falling

A broken heart,

a broken man holding splinters of himself in one hand the other curled tightly over empty space as if he had a firm grip on time itself.

a competent lover moreso a competent dreamer
afraid only of old flames that yearn to consume him again
old flames that hunger for those splinters of man hood that he he holds so tightly

his empty hand shakes with every second
because it seems everytime the clock strikes he has a new bruise
and a his grip loosens

is it ok in the face of all that is done
for him to come undone is it ok to add insult to calamity
is it ok to wear our store bought uglies like prosthetics
he thinks so.

but he also thinks
that angels with the largest halos
are compensating for their small wings,
and that the sky is falling,
and maybe if he refuse it long enough
love will never return
