Here in Northwest New Jersey we have more forests and farms, trees and deer than industry and pollution. New Jersey has been painted rather badly in popular culture. My experience is of a different New Jersey to the one you hear New Yorkers laughing about in sitcoms.

Thats not to say I dont also love the city… I am sure city lovers will find there are a great many shots of the highrises of NYC here also. The “scapes” of the city are just as interesting to me as those in rural and wild areas. I find some of the mind set when photographing each can be similar. A skyline is beautiful to me whether it is made of tree trunks and leaves on concrete and glass. Whether you look up to see the sun beaming down through tall builidng or tall trees it is a great feeling to look to the sky.

Huge building but you get a narrow line of each. / It is even more pleasing to the eye when …

NYC Ultra-Vibrantly

My wife and I were using the opportunity of my mother visiting to spend sometime without the kids. / After dinner on the Saturday night I went for a wander around Midtown with my camera and tripod. We got a cab back to the hotel after dinner I tried to get myself to the Top Of The Rock in time for the last elevator. I was there in time for t…

"Is that a sky shot?"

This morning not very long after dawn I was driving along and saw the cloudy sky start get clear and get a bit more interesting. So I pulled over into the parking lot of a little industrial park I was passing and followed the road to around behind the buildings where I could get a clearer line of sight to the rising sun. / When I parked and got my camera out I realised that the bottom of my shot …
