Jerome Rocky-Chambers was standing in a long room. It was very plain room with white walls and no curtianless windows. The only piece of furniture in the room was a chair and a large oak desk at the other end. Jerome was a sandy haired boy with seaside blue eyes. He was rather tall for a 13 year old and he was very skinny. Jerome walked toward the desk where a snobby, dark haired lady sat. She had purple nails and purple lipstick. Jerome read name tag; it said Annette. Annette was typing hurridly on a computer. Jerome was in fact in the office of the Nettleville News the local newspaper. Annette looked up.
“How may I help you” she said arrogantly. She looked at Jerome as if she would rather be doing something else. Jerome shifted his stance.
“I’m here to see the editor” said Jerome feebly. He gripped the folder he was hold tighter.
“Do you have a reservation?” Annette asked shifting through a few papers.
“Yes, Jerome Rocky-Chambers” he said with a bit more confidence. Annette pulled out a piece of paper and examined it.
“Very well” she said “Mr Blotts will see you now, this way.” Annette stood up and walked down a corridor on her left. Jerome quickly followed her not wanting to miss his appointment. Annette opened a door on the right half way down the corridor. She motioned for Jerome to go in. There was already someone in there. It was Jerome’s best friend, Charlotte Fitzgerald. Charlotte was brown haired and hazel eyed. The Editor Mr Blotts was sitting in a comfortable looking leather office chair, strumming his fingered on the desk. The door behind Jerome closed with a clack.
“Please sit down” said Mr Blotts indicating the empty seat next to Charlotte. Mr Blotts was a thin bald man with a very bushy red beard and storm grey eyes.
“Now” said Mr Blotts leaning over his desk “What was it you wanted to talk to me about?”
“Well sir” said Charlotte “We were wondering if you would publish our story.” Jerome handed the fold to Mr Blotts. There was silence except for the rustle of papers as Mr Blotts read Charlotte & Jerome’s story. Mr Blotts put the folder down and said.
“A truly wonderful work of fiction” he said quite amused.
“It’s not fake, it all true’ said Charlotte her temper rising.
“Well, yes if that’s what you want to believe” said Mr Blotts not quite understanding what Charlotte meant.
“Well then if you wish not to believe us & our word I am afraid that our story is not worth being published here” Charlotte said. She got up, straightened herself out, snatched the folder off Mr Blotts desk and left. Jerome hurried off after her.
“If our story is not believed I will not have it published” said Charlotte quite infuriated.
“Fine have it your way” said Jerome leaving Charlotte when they exited the building walking in the opposite direction.
