It's Not Me It's You

I reach my hand out to you, giving you my full attention. I guess what they say is true; it’s all in your perception. Don’t know what else to do, you require too much attention! You sing the right tune; I’m skeptical of your intentions.

Am I doing what’s best for me? This is not how it’s supposed to be! Nothing’s good that I can see. I no longer feel free.

We go through life doing what we do. Sometimes seeking something new. The padding’s on the wall, as you travel down the hall. Take me into the sky, teach me how to fly. Help me see the light, hold me in your arms tonight. It’s not me, it’s you.

Each day we grow further apart, until there’s no place left to go. I should’ve seen it from the start, what have we got to show? It’s blown off the charts, it’s just time before it blows. Time to do your part; it’ll end with nothing in store.

Am I doing what’s best for me? This is not how it’s supposed to be! Will someone ever set me free? What if I ask you please?

We go through life doing what we do. Sometimes seeking something new. The padding’s on the wall, as you travel down the hall. Take me into the sky, teach me how to fly. Help me see the light, hold me in your arms tonight. It’s not me, it’s you!

I love this poem, first off writing in rhyme can be difficult. As someone who constantly thinks in verse it’s different, but I admire your writing style. Keep up the good work!
