…now I just do it for fun.
This is dedicated to all my Brit friends ( ok Aussies, you too, even though I still maintain Vegemite tastes different!) who truly appreciate the glory that is Marmite.
I had really looked forward to doing this one, I couldn’t wait until my little mini bottle of Marmite arrived… spent most of my weekend doing this, but halfway through the enthusiasm was dampened a bit by this arrogant little troll who hides behind the name ‘Farce’ and who’s taken it upon himself (herself, itself) to personally attack me under the guise of questioning the originality of my work in this forum – http://thedailywh.at/post/2747083055/art-projec...
I’ve never claimed that I’m the first person to murder Barbies for ‘arts’ sake.. because I know I’m not – but I’m still pretty proud of what I do and the way that everything comes out, because I think that it is rather different and unique. But according to this …person… I am “arrogant, diluted and self-absorbed” along with “FAIL! Die Barbie Forever! Go Back to sleep Mariel like a heifer to the slaughter.”
Ordinarily I wouldn’t bother with this type of person – and I know I shouldn’t, because there are so many of you out there who have told me how you enjoy what I do ( thank you very much ) that the vituperative abuse of one sad person really shouldn’t get to me, but it does. More for the personal attack than anything else.
I’ve received hate-mail before, but there is something different about this, something more malicious, but I can’t quit put my finger on it.
Am I being overly sensitive? I don’t know – but one thing is for sure, if this piece of work thinks ( I use the term loosely ) I will stop what I’m creating, or beg forgiveness from anyone else who has ever decapitated a Barbie doll, then he thinks wrong.
I think it stings more than anything to be told you’re not original – and though I know the use of Barbies, macabre or otherwise is not, I think the way I do it is – but maybe it’s too subtle for him to see.
