Take your pick! Either way, this young muskrat was spotted munching down ‘greens’ one late summer evening (7/24/09) in the canal on the Towpath Trail at Wildwood Lake in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Muskrats are a medium-sized semi-aquatic rodent native to North America that are commonly found in wetlands, areas in or near salt and fresh-water marshlands, rivers, lakes or ponds. They are most active at night or near dawn and dusk and they feed mainly on aquatic vegetation such as cattails.

This image is also available in a wide variety of options at Shelley Neff at Fine Art America and Shelley Neff Photography on Zazzle.
