whats in a name!
is this a place?

its where I reside
where I was born
where I was reared
but its just two letters
a U and a K
I wonder what it really means
to UK folk today
United Kingdom
a Kingdom United
comprising of the scattered few
lands that were won and owned
by those who shed blood, died
and their kin
glory be to the fallen sons
and daughters on foreign fields
and streets and at home
today their memories honoured
and with poppy red
yesteryear alive tomorrow the dead
and gone with medal won
the grieving mother for the fallen son
the widowed wife still so young
the child with father gone
what tomorrow lies ahead for
that soldiers son
United we stand together
we fall tomorrows’ uncertain
for all – one and all
brothers and sisters
search long and search deep
for tomorrow is ours when our
bleeding hearts meet
and consider the past
the right and the wrongs
and together we’ll stand
in a world which is one
the dead soldiers dream
now our duty to unfold
hatreds forgotten new hands
to hold
the father the son and the holy ghost
have always stood near and will
guide us the most
cast out your sins and
seek a fresh start
your future and salvation
resides in your heart
if hearts could be leaders
our sorrows would flee
and man would feel joy
and together we would be
a Kingdom United

a great UK indeed!
