early i awoke to the sound of birds
lying almost awake and pondering the day
is it Saturday, Sunday or Monday
shit should i be at work today
panic over its Sunday
snuggle down for forty more winks
cant relax so many thoughts now flooding my head
almost as though a floodgate was opened
the grass to cut, the kids to feed, the house chores to sort,
the car to wash, the homeworks to mark, the minutes to type,
the fence to paint, a trip to the shop, a family visit to make
and a promise to keep
no bloomin wonder I cant get back to sleep
ah well me thinks, it will all get done
but first I will find some time in the sun
maybe a walk with the kids to the woods
or the park or the beach then try some fast foods
the wife is at work all day … peace without
i will take the camera – take loads of pics no doubt
yea i’ll be happy out in the sun for an hour or four or some
i will send her a text telling i love her, doing the chores
and not forgetting the kisses and hugs that she adores
i hope the rain stays away all day to fulfill my scheme
when i return, i will bribe the kids, don’t tell mum we were out
i will buy you ice cream
the kids being kids will side with me for a cone or a pop or just 50p
well the going rate is much more than that, they continue the bribe
when mums not in earshot (little schemers) ...
i guess they are just like me !!!
what a day it will be, just them and me and the camera of course
so as I may return and play on the PC with the shots that I took
for the folk on RB
the chores will be done in the blink of an eye, im good you know
i’m well practised by now
the car will be washed, the fence, the chores and all
in approx 1hour 20 mins before the return of my little ‘Mrs All’
A kiss and a hug and a cup of tea will meet her on her return from work
a listening ear to her daily tales and a smile and a nod will please her
A glance through the house will let her see that my back is sore, oh pitty me
with the work that i’ve been doing all day of course hee hee
Kids are in bed no need to fret … time to relax …
laptop on lap and tv on … the wife and I are at one … ;-)

Isn’t married life just wonderful :-)

Gorgeous piece of writing. Paints such a wonderful family life with wife and kids, busy, fun and loving. Written with a good dose of humour. Perfect.

Lol Dave…that is so good. It reminds me when my now 18 and 21 year old sons were 1 and 4.
I was not working in the week and what I would do is play with them all day, Monday to Friday.
Bathe them at five in the evening, tidy up like mad at home and get dinner ready for my husband to arrive home just after six…and have the boys ready to greet him. He would say to me quite often….I don’t know how you keep the house so tidy…when I have them at the weekend whilst you are working….they make such a mess and it really wares me out…tee hee….if only he knew….but I guess you do know Dave…hahaha…thanks for the lovely poem. I, like everyone above me …..I am sure…has also enjoyed the day with you and your children,....and as for your wife….she gets to chill and spend time with you as you have worn out the little ones…well done indeed (!)
