I’ve been adding work to this site now for a couple of months and was sitting today just thinking about all the people that I have had the priviledge to communicate with over that time. One person in particular, Dawn Davies (dawndavies) never fails to comment on my work and in actual fact was the first person to make contact with me when I first started uploading some photos/art. A truely sincere person and always with positive words to contribute, she never fails to bring a smile to my face and I always value her comments as I do with all others.

For those of you who have viewed my photos/art, you will be aware that I have tried, from time to time , to add a little humour into them in some form or fashion either through the caption, explanation of picture content or through the image itself. I would sometimes add a ‘twist’ in there also to make people raise an eyebrow or two and give the viewer something to think about … for example my picture ’ near miss’ would have you believe that a bullet just missed me and hit the wall of my house/shed. This of course couldn’t be further from the truth … no one would really want to kill a dedicated father, husband, son, brother, uncle and school teacher … unless you were an irate redbubbler that I upset through my negative comments on a pic or so (very unlikely though :-) ).

It got me thinking about the expression ’ a picture paints a thousand words’ ... my own Tech Drawing teacher would have used this expression many times when he was trying to get us to produce the best graphics/technical drawings in secondary school (he actually was my inspiration to become a teacher).

I reckon that other redbubblers make a mental image of someone that they are communicating with at the other end of a keyboard. I do … and through their writings and art I naturally paint a picture in my minds eye of how someone must be, their character, their personality, their bodily form and features, their history, the baggage they must be carrying in their lives, their lifes story and so on … so many imaginings go through my mind as I communicate with others worlds away. Perhaps it is a good thing that we never meet these significant and creative others face to face. I for one would probably be stuck for words and would cringe with embarrasment or perhaps would be too talkitive and be boring in reality (who knows!).

I would just like to thank all the people who take the time to comment on my work and drop by to take a look at my work … I appreciate this a lot. I love redbubble and do believe that I am now an addict.

I just want you to know that if you do drop by and take time to look at my work and possibly communicate with me, nomatter how briefly, I do appreciate it !!!

Don’t let any of my images fool you into thinking that I am a rogue … I assure you that ain’t the case ;-)

B Good … look forward to seeing you all soon …

Dave

wow thankyou so much, Dave I am greatly touched to have been included in this written work, but should you be thanking me when I have made you an rb addict lol I did warn you though hee hee seriously though, its a pleasure to comment on your work and of coarse others too, I get inspired by both the giving and receiving of comments, I cannot get all technical with any camara work or how hard it may be to produce something so spectacular or profess to know the jargon, but if I like something or it is unusual then I always try and comment. When I am over and at the castle again and doing a re inactment there I will give you fair warning and if I dont measure up you can put me into the dungeons there or of course I could put you ha ha thanks so much I am truly honered Dawn big hugs xx

picture paints a thousand words, ~ but only leaves a single thought ~ but measured by the memory of the lasting image ~ lasts even longer than a thousand words ~ maybe even a thousand days !

well done Dave, you are indeed making a contribution here at Redbubble; and like myself flying the flag for Northern Ireland

You are very right about how we form images of each other in our minds! as long as we all realize that we really have only a glimpse of each other and not the whole picture than it really is harmless right?
