I remember a great uncle having a conversation with my father when I was just a boy ….. he had been a tail end gunner in one of the large bombers during the war – WW11…. was shot down several times and lost many pals during these unfortunate occasions …. he was a hardened old soul and became an athiest the remaining part of his life ……. I remember him talking of our troubles here in NI at the time and about all the unfortunate souls that had lost their lives on our streets …… when asked if he was a young man again would he ‘join up’ and be prepared to die for his country, he hesitated and replied ‘I would rather live for my country, then I may be able to make a difference’ ….. perhaps there is a lesson here for everyone Dawn ….. I wont ever forget that statement as long as I shall live ….. I will dedicate my life to making a difference while the breath remains in my body !!! ...... as for dying for a piece of land …. I will reserve my answer and position for another time !!! .... I hasten to add – I fear no one or no thing!
