This was taken with a Canon EOS 1100D (28mm @f14 1/250sec, ISO 800) on a farm called Elandsvlei near Ladismith, South Africa.
This is my sister Engela’s horse. She loves the damn thing but rides it too little. So over the course of a few weeks she chased it around in a small camp to get it sweating a bit before she gets back on.
In the beginning I was pretty nervous with the beast – I don’t know much about horses – but I soon got the feeling this animal is pretty tame. And soon enough this horse was parading and showing off like it knew I was taking photos.
Well, that or it seems the horse was a bit unsure how to react to my pouncing stance! Seems instinct might have gotten the better hold of it and it reacted this way because I looked like a predator. That is what someone told me on flickr.
Every time I dropped to a knee when it ran past it would throw it’s head down to me, come very close and thunder past with a trot. Sometimes it would run behind me and hide from my sister – guess it got tired, or maybe just playing! :)
I probably took a gazillon photo’s and a lot of junk. Action photography is a whole new ballgame but I must admit it was fun times!!!
