Afraid to live , afraid to die,
lost in a world of getting high.
Everyone got their own story to tell ,
nothing in their hearts but a living hell.
Don’t want to be here in this place,
caught up in this dysfunctional human race.
Holding in the abuse of yesteryear,
filled my soul and mind with fear.
Afraid to live , afraid to die,
lost in a world of getting high.
Screaming at the child that lived within,
I led my life drowning it with gin.
Thought I had it all under control ,
living my life with a goal.
Then one night I went to far,
never thinking about all those scars.
Afraid to live , afraid to die,
lost in a world of getting high.
I took that pipe and drew it in, you see ,
it left me feeling so very free.
Nothing was bothering me any more,
but who is that knocking at my door.
Go away and let me be,
I can handel my own life can’t you see.
Afraid to live ,afraid to die,
lost in a world of getting high.
Father I have a problem can’t you see,
I don’t like what it’s doing to me.
Please help me now I began to cry ,
if you don’t I will surely die.
Afraid to live afraid to die ,
lost in a world of getting high.
God reached out his hand, and pulled me near,
wrapped me in his arms and soothed my fears.
From that night I began to grow ,
Now living in His Love is all I know.
No longer afraid to live or afraid to die ,
no longer living in a world of getting high.
I am a child of God’s can’t you see ,
living my life in harmony !
