Artist's Description

As I and several thousand other people waited for the Space Shuttle to fly over, we could only guess where it would be coming from. Some guy standing next to me was tracking it on Twitter while others kept in contact by telephone with other friends to know where she was coming from. Well, as it turned out, when she came flying over the top of the Marin Headlands, it was “ALMOST STRAIGHT OVER MY HEAD”. You should have heard the screames when it came into view. “THERE IT IS”, someone shouted and everybody turned to see where it was at. I was finally in a good place to get a great photo of a piece of history. I have been following the space program ever since Allan Shepard took his historic 15 minute fllight and John Glenn made his historic 3 orbit flight around the Earth and Gus Grissom sank his space craft in the Pacific Ocean. I was watching TV on the days when the Apallo 1 astronauts burned to death, and when the Challenger blew up on take off and again when the Columbia disintegrated on reentry. Now that the shuttle program has been stopped, we now have to depend on the Russians to get our supplies and astronauts up into the International Space Station. I used my Canon EOS 60D with my Canon 75-300mm telephoto lens to get this shot. I didn’t have to use the 300mm, they were so close to me that all I needed was the 75mm to get this shot. This was in San Fransisco California in the United States of America, on the last flight the Endevour will ever take.
