SANTA WOULD YOU BRING ME A RED TRAIN ENGINE

SMOKEYDOGSOCKS

VACAVILLE, CALIFORNIA, United States

Artist's Description

TODAY, SEPT 23, 2009, I WAS AT MY FISHING PARTNERS HOUSE IN VALLEJO CALIFORNIA. OVER THE LAST FEW TRIPS DOWN THERE FROM VACAVILLE, WE HAVE BEEN BUILDING A NEW SECTION OF FENCE OUT FRONT WHERE THE OLD BLACK WALNUT TREE, USED TO STAND. THE TREE HAD BEEN CUT DOWN SOME TIME BACK, BUT PAUL JUST RECENTLY GOT AROUND TO HAVING IT CUT DOWN THE REST OF THE WAY AND HAVING IT STUMPED. WELL, HE WANTS TO PUT A DRIVEWAY IN WHERE THE TREE ROOTS USED TO BE AND THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF ROOTS LEFT BEFORE HE WILL EVER BE ABLE TO DIG DOWN 4 INCHES FOR THE PROPPER THICKNESS OF A DRIVEWAY. WHILE WE WERE TAKING A BREAK INSIDE HIS HOUSE, WHERE IT WAS MUCH COOLER, WE GOT TO TALKING ABOUT MODEL TRAIN SETS THAT WE HAD AS KIDS. HE POINTED OUT THE LITTLE RED TRAIN ENGINE THAT USES A KEY TO WIND IT UP AND MAKE IT RUN ON SOME TRACKS. HE CLAIMS HE HAS THE KEY FOR IT AND AFTER I GOT DONE LOOKING AT IT REAL GOOD, I TOLD HIM THAT THE CONDITION THAT LITTLE ENGINE WAS IN WOULD MAKE IT WORTH AROUND $1200.00 TO THE RIGHT PERSON AT AUCTION. ESPECIALLY IF HE HAD THE KEY AND POSSIBLE MORE IF HE HAD THE BOX IT CAME IN. SO, I TOOK SEVERAL PHOTOS OF THAT ENGINE AND THIS IS ONE OF MY INTERPRITATIONS OF THAT TRAIN ENGINE. I THOUGHT IT WOULD MAKE A GOOD CHRISTMAS CARD, SO I CALL IT “SANTA WOULD YOU BRING ME A RED TRAIN ENGINE” FOR CHRISTMAS. I FIXED ABOUT 10 OR SO DIFFERENT IMAGES FROM THAT ONE ENGINE SHOT. I WAS SURPRISED AT HOW MANY WORKABLE IMAGES I WAS ABLE TO COME UP WITH. OH, WHILE WE WERE OUT IN HIS FRONT YARD WORKING ON THE FENCE, WE HEARD AN ENORMOUS EXPLOSSION. EVEN HIS NEIGHBOR CAME OUT HER FRONT DOOR TO ASK US WHAT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN. IT TURNED OUT TO BE AN ACT OF NATURE AT A LOCAL QUAREY THERE IN VALLEJO. FOR SOME REASON, A BUBBLE BUILDS UP AND PRESSURES GET TO THE POINT THAT THE EARTH CAN NO LONGER HOLD BACK THE PRESSURE AND THE QUAREY LETS ONE RIP. WE CALLED IT AN EARTH FART, AFTER WE FOUND OUT WHAT IT WAS. I TOOK THE ORIGINAL IMAGE WITH MY CANON EOS DIGITAL KISS REBEL 300D, USING MY 18-55MM ULTRASONIC LENS. I ALSO UTILIZED THE BUILT IN FLASH.
