This painting is part of the ‘Inevitability’ series I have been working on for the past year. The naming is from the greek wording for ‘Graces’ who usually come in 3’s and are the goddesses of charm, beauty and creativity, they are usually depiced in a circle. I altered the meaning so that the figures are facing away from each other, which I used as a symbolic gesture for apathy towards the human race. The series I am working on surrounds the factors of humanity slowly closing in on itself, and forgetting its true meaning, hence the incorporated twist on the figures positioning. The element of slow decay and consumption is also used in this series.
