This is Guy. He’s my favorite friend at the local zoo. He lives in too tiny of an enclosure (well, I think every “home” in the zoo is inadequate, but his is especially small for someone with those legs).
He was looking a bit sadder than usual, so I did my best to cheer him up. We chatted, and he sampled a few choice leaves. As I changed locations exploring different giraffe views, he followed right along. He became playful, posing a bit for me. And then Guy graced me with a sweet little smile :)
Smile, though your heart is aching,
Smile, even though it’s breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky-
You’ll get by.
If you smile through your fear and sorrow,
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through
Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near,
That’s the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just smile.

My Louis Armstrong video link didn’t work, so here’s another smile song, which makes me smile every time I hear it :)
