Don’t be too surprised when I tell you this is nearly unaltered. A few colours taken out (lowered saturation) and blacks added – this is pretty close to all that was done.

The shot was taken in the “Tunnel of Love” located at Paronella Park, Far North Queensland.

Although half of it is closed, if you’re able to brave the oozing mud, the fluttering bats and the gigantic huntsmans, you can venture half way down the tunnel.

I wished they’d open the other end so I can do the same shot with a bit more distance in it. Though I am pleased with this one the way it is.

Standing in the middle of the tunnel with a colony of bats nesting above my head. Taken at 4:50pm armed only with a Dolphin Torch to light the walls, a tripod and the trusty Olympus E30 with a 14-54mm lens.

This photo is not representative of Paronella Park in any way what-so-ever, but it’s a great place to experiment with tunnel photos :)

The surprise features – JPG Cast Offs, Abstract Realism and Olympus Four Thirds (all within 22 hours yay).

yep, this is awesome….and of course, I believe you. sometimes the most haunting images (dark) are the more natural ones such as this one! way awesome.. I haven’t done any tunnel images but looking at this one, I totally want to start finding some- LOL. excellent work!

  • I’ve always wanted to do this as well – and I totally forgot about the Tunnel of Love – until Friday last week that is :) We have lots of underpass bridges, but they’re just not the same. Hopefully they fix this tunnel up even more so we can get right to the other end to photograph – but even as it is now, I still love it :) Thank you so much for your kind words – very appreciated!

Absolutely creepy Paul. Lol but great shot. I wouldnt have hung around in there long enough to get a shot!

  • Nah, it’s really nice in there – they wouldn’t call it the Tunnel of Love otherwise would they? Thanks for the compliment too :)
