The Farm House - Cairns - Queensland - Australia by

Located in Far North Queensland, these lone farm houses (often Queenslanders) stand through the test of time… This early morning, natural coloured sunrise captured the look of this one such house.

It was a fully random shot as I was driving I saw the sunrise and I had been taking photos from the other direction when I turned around.

No filters, no colours, nothing but the real shot – what you see here is how it looked that morning.

Queenland – the Sunshine State – the Smart State and the place where I am happiest :)

    how stunningly beautiful :)

  • wow… I am so glad you think so :) I always think all Queenslanders (the house type) have an amazing character about them. I was so glad I turned around that day to take this photo.

Queenslanders would probably not call this a Queenslander .. there is no verandah :) i think it would be unromantically termed a low-set fibro house :) and they’re generally considered the pits aesthetics wise, but your photo shows it in a perfect light, and is perfectly composed .. there is a beauty in the modest and in these days of rife consumerism and divorcement from our environment, even this setting looks ‘in tune with nature’ in a way that i find nostalgic :) again, excellent!

  • haha… maybe I’m a romantic then :) low set fibro house it is – what a wonderful comment you’ve made – I really appreciate what you’ve said. It makes clicking that shutter all the more worth while. And I fully agree with finding beauty in even some of the ugliest things – whether they be natural or not. The time that this shot was taken, the skies were blood red to the east, and this very hard to describe pinky colour to the west. And the house being ‘green’ – albeit dirty, just had a glow that was set off by the mystical colouring in the sky. I still call it a lucky shot :) – once again, I appreciate the feedback – both positive and critical (if you like).
