Fire Dancer

Gordon Merrick Justice

Fire Dancer

Metaphorical or not, just as the title says. Maybe erotic, maybe mundane. INcidental note, I wrote this at 14… only my third poem ever… yet to this day one of my very favorites.

Fire Dancer, dancing in the night.

Her body heat swelling as her dancing takes flight.

She sways with pleasure in illuminated waves,

Red veils enhancing, in silver light she bathes.

I love the fire dancer, her intoxicating glow.

And after the dance she crawls down low.

She lowers and lowers, the wood all now ashen.

The hot blackened coals, all thats left of her passion.
