Images of Neptune

There’s a new moon over Neptune
far beneath the setting sun
shining down in misty patterns
on a landscape long-forgotten
where the Journey was begun.

Sitting by the ocean
draped in colours all serene -
I sang a melody of Life
to which unknown was pain or strife
in tones aquamarine.

Half-remembered now, the song;
time’s passage dulls the tune
of voice and sea and dulcimer
of wind, and waves in stillness
beneath a dappled moon.

In visions now I find you still
clear to my inner sight
where fairies play along the shore
and elves shall sing for evermore
in halls of pearl and light.

There’s a new moon over Neptune
far beneath the setting sun
shining down in misty patterns
on a landscape long-forgotten
where the Journey was begun.

Dreaming by an ocean
in a memory of green -
I heard faint strains of a melody
distant sounds of ancient song,
echoes of places I’d been.

In a flowing world of water
midst the music of the spheres,
dance the devas through her oceans
with their graceful, fluid motions,
weaving tapestries of years.

The soft and rythmic sound of waves,
soothe the restless lonely heart -
from the depths of ocean vales
come mer-folk with their shing tails,
and voices formed by elements apart.

There’s a new moon over Neptune
far beneath the setting sun
shining down in misty patterns
on a landscape long-forgotten
where the Journey was begun.

Waiting by the ocean
seeking still for you –
I saw a vision of my self,
a deva talking with an elf
in images of blue.

It’s an ancient, mystic planet
of life-forms seldom seen,
sending forth a strange vibration
of intuition, contemplation
reaching outward through a dream.

Here tunes unheard by mortal men
are offered to the stars, the seas -
now starts a dance in measured time
to echo back the sacred song
through endless galaxies.

There’s a new moon over Neptune
far beneath the setting sun
shining down in misty patterns
on a landscape long-forgotten
where the Journey was begun.

I’m a Pisces so Neptune is my ruling planet, not suprisingly I’m a spiritualist, not to mention a dreamer & a romantic …
Hey, I said NOT to mention that!

I’ve also been blessed by having wonderful musicians around to put some of my work into it’s proper contex. Graham was talented at getting a range to suit us both, at working difficult rhyming phrases into a musical framework and at counterpoint if it was needed in a piece. I miss the talents of this singing partner even though it was a strange, or more correctly, unlikely combination.

  • thanks Kathy, means a great deal to me – I must admit I haven’t written anything for well over a decade, time to get the brain working again I think :)
