Egyptian Prayer

I doodled the sign for Aten when I was about 6yo, I read about Akenaten many, many years later. When I was doing a diploma course, a schoolmate loaned me the novel “A God Against the Gods” by Alan Drury & it was all over – since then I’ve had a passion for this strange pharoah.

Egyptian Prayer belongs to the following groups:

All things Egyptian, Beginner's Expressions and The true beauty

Arise, O Egypt, from your slumber,
Live again your ways of Wisdom -
Restore Oneness in The Two Lands.

Mighty Sun God, Aten, spirit of old Egypt,
Beloved Lord in shining splendour
Return now – redeem The Two Lands.

Pharoah Akenaten, founder of Your temple,
Bespoke all Your love and mercy
One God – Aten, of The Two Lands.

Beauty, joy and wonder inspire in Your people,
As of old in Pharoah’s city
Shine Your light upon The Two Lands.

Glorious and radiant, O Thou Solar Disc -
Twelve arms stretched to Humanity
Bestow Peace throughout The Two Lands.

Osirus, Isis, Horus – Holy Three in One,
Pour Your love light through Lord Aten,
Healed are heart and Soul – The Two Lands.
