The Silent Sphinx

Written back in 1990 when I was involved more outwardly in spiritual pursuits

The Silent Sphinx belongs to the following groups:

All things Egyptian, Beginner's Expressions, Ruins, Ancient and Derelict Buildings and The true beauty

The riddle of the Sphinx has vexed Mankind anon,
he rack his brains, sits, thinks what She may ponder on.

Silent- ever watchful eyes gaze across the desert sand,
She every inner secret pries, that guardian of the land.
The past to Her is present, so too the future years -
the flow of Time is pleasant when Immortals are your peers!

In the shadow of great Giza, She sits so still, serene -
none go there but will see Her, but will wonder at her dream.

She asks an age-old question of those who seek Her doorway,
answer wrong and Her suggestion is to quietly go your way;
but to those who answer rightly, the portals open wide,
Truth and Wisdom shine there brightly as She beckons you inside.

The riddle of the Sphinx lies now in your hand;
so too, the things She thinks while gazing on Her land.
