2008 is the year of the rat (or mouse), which only rolls around once every 12 years. The rat was the first sign of the Chinese/Japanese zodiac, and is known for its charm, prosperity, cunning and tendency to be somewhat miserly, hence the rat looking inquisitively at a pair of old Japanese coins.
