thanks to the CFA fire fighters
thanks to the heros in the CFA that put their live on the line to save lives and property
It has been an horific weekend in Victoria at last count i beleive 131 dead and could go as high as 230 lives lost and around 800 houses destroyd with a number of small towns all but wiped off the map now to the point of this journal
i beleive that the fire fighters that have lost property defending others life and property should have their homes and posessions rebuilt and replaced as best we can as a way of saying thankyou for the sacrifices they have made

They haven’t called for you yet and I am torn as you know
as being grateful you are still here but wanting you to be able to go
You have the experience and the courage to do what’s needed there
and there is never enough men which never seems quite fair
But it’s not over yet and sadly more may yet burn
and then my darling man it just may be your turn
Then I will sit and hold my breath and will you to survive
until I have you back again so grateful you’re alive
This is the fate of every spouse who’s partner goes to fight
and we shoulder it with gallons of pride for you do what is more than right!
Thank you babe for posting this you make me proud to be your girl
& congratulations on the M&V Feature!
Bravo my man BRAVO!!!

Hey Skik! you are a great person!! Totally agree that the firies need our complete support!!! Maybe Addy and you could start a temporary group to cover this aspect of the tragedy? I’ll help out if you need extra help. Let me know what you think. xxx

I know that you dont write much which makes this even more important
You have written this treatise about your skill knowledge of CFA firefighters and the courage they have to stand up against a very ferocious element – fire – in the worst form – wild wind-fed bushfire!
I know you had wanted to go
I know you had been grateful you were not able to
and I know you would have gone if they had’ve called
The CFA need better support – full compensation for loss due to their duty requirements and that should include loss of wages and of their family’s wages [if effected], full property reimbursement and all out of pocket expenses
I know there is a good councelling service and there are benefits but perhaps a weekend holiday for the family should be given to each fighter after so many days fighting?
And personally I think once all fires are safe and the season allert is stood down, there should be a full Torchlight Parade through the city in honour of what they achieved! We do it twice a year for our war servicemen, we have for the police – hell we do it every year for a horse race & a footy game!
Now that would be a stunning show of awe!
Chookas my CFA firey! xXx

I have featured this in the EEG as the inspiration for these commented ideas and [my]poetry, and as such the root of a collaboration which has generated some sales for the PHOENIX APPEAL – all of which are the ekphrasis of your thoughts!
