Did a shoot at a property today and I was sidetracked by a gorgeous herd of alpacas. They all came up to see me and this guy decided to get up nice and close..They are so so cute…except when they spit. >.<

Equipment: Canon 40D 50mm lens f1.8

Aw I love alpacas and this is a lovely portrait of one :)

  • I’d love to have one in my back yard…not sure if the cat and dog would approve through!

    Thanks Steve.

Awwwwwwww…sooooo cute!!! I love them too.! Luckily I’ve never had on spit at me! LOL I think jaffa has alpacas! Luv the dof.

  • I had to squeeze the camera in between the wire fencing to get this shot…he was incredibly curious about the camera. Thanks JJ

Oh this is fantastic!! The DOF is perfect for that hairy little face.
And yes they’re wonderful creatures, but the spitting, not so nice.

  • He stood still for quite some time with his face between the wire fence…long enough for me to focus on his mouth. Using the 50mm f1.8 it put everyhting else into blur. They have such long snouts.

Oh I really would love one. Think of all the lovely woolly blankets and socks I could make!!!

    Sweet! What a great shot….certainly raises a smile ;)

  • You couldn’t wipe the smile of my face with these guys around. They really do have a gorgeous nature.

Wonderful Lorraine. The focus puts you right up close which wouldn’t have worked had you given more dof or focused on the eyes

    kev

  • Thanks Kev. If he got any closer I thnk he was going to have a nibble on the lens. x

Great shot. Looks like he’s going to come out of the screen!

  • Thanks Leanne…

It does actually come to think of it. I do so love that scruffy face.
