Young, wild bachelor stallion just outside of Cherry Creek in the Antelope complex about one hour outside of Ely, Nevada, USA.
I was in Cherry Creek with Jeanne Nations and we happened upon this stallion …..what ensued was a beautiful dance with this lonesome but noble spirit.
He let Jeanne and I get very very close many many times. Each time as we got close….he would retreat further up the hill…as we would start walking away…he would start to follow us down the hill.
He was alone in the wild. We are not certain if he lost his band in a previous round-up and was now looking for a new herd, or, if he had been forced out of his previous herd so that he could seek out his own mares and start his own herd.
There was something very special about this lad ….very peaceful….yet noble and strong.
