This series began with the intention of photographing the dynamics of my family, in a non-staged way, within the environment of our family home. I set about capturing portraits of the various members, dog included of course, inhabiting their seperate areas of the house.
With the unexpected departure of my parents & the general absence of presence around the house I found myself drawn to photographing the empty space around me, which seemed somewhat symbolic of the way I was feeling at the time.
This series resulted in 2 bodies of work.
This image is from the second part whereby I superimposed ghostly images, taken from drawings of my family. The finished pieces were printed to a scale such that the viewer feels that they are able to move into the spaces. The overlayed images imply the presence of the family despite their physical absence in reality…
