Taken in Poltava, Ukraine. I used to pass this poor woman every day on an underpass and I swear she was always there in the exact same place begging in the baking summer heat. Had a wee chat with her after she caught me snapping this and I gave her some money. Apparently she used to help build tanks during the war. Like so many of the older generation she told me that life under the Soviet Union was so much better as everyone was cared for and had their own place, now she is reduced to this humiliation.
