halo

halo

This is Balencea by Wood Marsh Architects on St Kilda Rd. The images on that website are renders.

It’s almost finished and quite a spectacular building, it looks not unlike the old batman logo in plan.

I took this when there was a 22 degree circular halo around the sun , so that’s not my lens going nutso.

halo belongs to the following groups:

hey this is just stunning… a truely elegant photograph and so wonderful you were able to see the halo and catch it as it flitted by…. something very classical about this… it would actually look pretty spectacular in black and white to be honest…. strip the colour away and focus on the form of the building…. nice work though

  • sjem © replied

Yes I gave B+W a red hot go but the whole thing became a bit meh. I’ve got a few others that are great in B+W though, just gotta tweak ‘em a bit.

I really love b/w for adding extra power to an image… we see in colour so in some ways it’s more ordinary….. by taking the colour out of somethings…. it adds more authourity to an image…. it reduces it to form and tone and line…. all things that work particulary well with architectureal shots….

have you thought of split toning this… ?
building greyscale and sky full colour…. might look pretty cool

what with Lucan picking a fight and the string of ambiguous comments, this virtual conversation has had me in laughing out load mode, which, since I have mostly lost my voice at the moment, comes out as a somewhat disturbing whooping squeaking sort of sound….oh and the photo is lovely, well done
