North Goatfell from Goatfell by Simon Bowen

North Goatfell from Goatfell by

We were staying in Arran and Goatfell was stubbornly shrouded in cloud at the beginning of our week and the weather forecast predicted heavier rain (and therefore cloud) for later in the week. The sweet spot appeared mid-way through our stay when the day’s cloud cover began to disperse later in the aftenoon. So I put my camera gear in my hiking pack and strapped my tripod to the outside and stomped up the mountain by the shortest route, racing against the light. I needn’t have rushed, as I was treated to an hour of beautful sun and the summit to myself for over an hour until the temptation of something more substantial than leftover sandwiches made me head down.
