Sonia Jacka

I live in Noordhoek a rural suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. My prefered medium to work in is oils.
I started painting in 1997.
In 1991 I graduated from the University of South Africa with a BA degree (Psychology). I then studied at the Ruth Prowse School of Art and Design and did life drawing at the Frank Joubert Art Centre.
I enjoy painting anything that moves me in a special way.
I am a member of the Portrait Society of America and I attended 3 of their annual Art of the Portrait Conferences, the first in Philadelphia in 2002, and the second in Dallas in 2006. I was also awarded their Tuition Scholarship in 2006. I joined them again in 2008 in Philadelphia.
