“ALL THE LONELY PEOPLE
WHERE DO THEY ALL COME FROM
“ALL THE LONELY PEOPLE,
WHERE DO THEY ALL BELONG”

Lennon and McCartney

I was in Sidmouth and it was the first sunny warm day, after a very cold winter. I saw one of those electric buggies parked at the top of some steps, (that people use when thay have difficulty in walking) – then I looked down the stone steps to see this man . My first thought was that he possibly lived alone in a cold apartment or room and had struggled down those stone steps in order to lie on the warm pebbles and feel some comforting warmth in his life. I felt really sad. I felt an ache too at the plight of our neglected, lonely people and especially the frail and elderly.
In England, it looks like the welfare and benefits were not being given to the care for people who had paid into the system for the last 50 years – our elderly.
Millions of welfare benefits are being spent including health care for teenagers that get drunk and have violent fights just for the fun of it. The ‘free’ health care system in England has been abused in many ways.
Sorry if I sound judgemental but to me, it is a tragic side to society where the elderly generation who don’t have much money, are being neglected and denied the health care that they have paid for.

I would like to see health care in America for all ……..yet it is sad that England does not seem to have been discerning with their free health care.

I wrote this story when I got home.

this is a wonderful capture. in reading what you have written it makes me sad and upset for this could very well happen in the USA. Mark my words

  • thankyou so much Mark, I appreciate your comment, it is such a sad situation when the people who really need it can be so easily forgotton in place of the ones who exploit it. I suppose this is the ‘evolved’ human species.

Sad. This Is Throughout Britain I’m Afraid.
Sorry To Bring More Even More Bad News.
Wait To The Cuts Really Kick In !!!
I’m Really Sick That “Governments” Do Not Seem To Want To Tackle The Huge Alcohol Problem We Have.
Always On The Side Of The Drinks Lobby (Profit)
Poverty Will Also Become Worse Along With Crime As Police Forces Get Cut Etc…..
I’m Afraid Things Do Not Look Good For A Lot Of People & At The Same Time We Are Having Quotes Like “You’ve Never Had It So Good” & “Breeding” We Got A VAT Coming We Have The Major Gas & Electricy Suppliers Making More Profit !!! & The Rich Getting Richer While The Poor Become Poorer.
    “The Gap Has Widened Immensely”
WER’E ALL IN THIS TOGETHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t Mean To Bring You Down These Are Just Some Of My Observations. I Could Go On & On……..Being A Cyclist Allows You Into Areas That Some Don’t See …………
    Have A Good Weekend

  • Ken, I am so glad you wrote this – I am disgusted at the exploitation of a system that was began out of comapssion after the 2nd World War…..and I won’t mention all the facets of this exploitation in England………but I totally agree about the horrendous greed and decadance at the expense of others.

Strong image … important message. Things are very similar here in the states with our Social Security program.

    • Coy
  • I just hope the human species evolves where the self-serving aspirations of greed and exploitation are replaced by caring and sharing on each side of the ‘rich and poor’ divisions.
