Kahlil Gibran

.Here’s another Dartmoor pony – I love them!
It was winter time as you can see the snow and I was quite high up on the hill before driving down into Widdecombe-on-the-Moor. (Devon, England).
The roads had ice on them that winter day. It was a bleak winter day – and Dartmoor is known for it’s ‘enchanting bleakness’. Thereis a magical eeriness to the terrain.
There are lots of ghost stories based on Dartmoor. Sherlock Holmes book ‘The hounds of the Baskervilles’ was based in the Dartmoor area.

    nice capture, how bizarre

  • Thanks very much Ryan – vehicles are warned to take care of sheep and ponies that roam around on Dartmoor when driving – hopefully they do

Get off the road, awwh any horse owners worset nightmare! :( I couldn’t believe how the horses were on the road also in Fiji! :( Here in OZ, they just drive too fast, my horses wouldn’t have a chance if they got out!

    It’s a very cute pony! :)

    Gabe :)

  • Thanks so much Gabrielle – it is part of the Dartmoor heritage and traditions to have the ponies walking around freely – hopefully the vehicles notice the signs to drive with care

So lucky, so free, so cute! Lucky pony roaming around the countryside and eating it ;D I’d even be jealous of the fearsome winters!

  • Thanks Akkra – oh Gosh I was up there this last winter when it snowed – I was so scared I would get stuck with my battered old car.
