" I IMAGINE,
THEREFORE I BELONG –
AND AM FREE"

Lawrence Durrell

This is an old church built up on the hill (St Michaels Church) and amongst the ancient Dartmoor rocks in a place called Brentor, in Dartmoor, England. It has a feel of bygone days and I could imagine the villagers climbing the hill to go to church. I love it because it is built into the rock and it has an ancient ambience, one can sense the work and dedication that went into building it.

Brent Tor is one of the most impressive outcrops in Dartmoor and one of the few on Dartmoor not to be made of granite. It is formed from basaltic lava which flowed 350 million years ago into a shallow sea that covered the area during the lower Carboniferous and Devonian period
