I’m getting a crown
To wear all over town

It’s time, he said
To cover the head

I’m getting a crown
To wear all over town

I’ve worked hard for years
Caused a few tears

I’m getting a crown
To wear all over town

Sparkling gold
That’s what I’m told

I’m getting a gold crown
To wear all over town

You deserve it
You worked hard for it

I’m getting a gold crown
To wear all over town

Talking, chattering
muttering, whispering

I’m getting a gold crown
To wear all over town

Forever and ever
Bare headed again, ...never

I’m getting a gold crown
To wear all over town

In fact I’m getting two
One just won’t do

I’m getting a gold crown
To wear all over town

To wear in the street
Admired by all I meet

I’m getting a gold crown
To wear all over town

dream of all dreams
way beyond my means

I’m getting a gold crown
To wear all over town

So I went to collect
And what did I get
Though I was ready and willing
All I got was a cheap filling
