I’ve been a fan of Hans Kawitzki on RB for quite a while. His ability to portray the various moods of the Australian landscape is simply spectacular, particularly in his use of our special Aussie light.
So with his permission I’ve combined two of his Murray River images (plus a little of my own ad-libbing) into a composite painting which hopefully demonstrates that special light.
Those of us lucky enough to live in the ‘Lucky Country’ would rightfully be able to guess the general location of this painting. It certainly spoke Murray River to me, even before I’d read Hans’ notes.

Hope you enjoy the light, and the serenity of this special place

I dont know what to say except its jaw dropping beautiful, I am amazed!

  • Thanks so much Adrian. That’s what I said when I saw Hans’ photos, so translating that into a painting was (relatively) easy! Appreciate your comments :)

This is spectacular and does Hans’s work justice. Well done and an instant fave.

  • Thanks so much Elana. It’s always a worry as a painter when you ‘borrow’ a photographer’s work, so I’m pleased you think I’ve done them justice :)

  • Thanks so much Susan, this was one of those paintings that just seemed to ‘click’ as soon as I laid stylus on graphics tablet :)) Hard to say which painting is my favourite these days, but this is right up there!
