Chania Alley Light by sirthomas1960

Chania is the second largest city on the island of Crete, and as with most Mediterranean towns it’s history is reflected in these wonderfully textured and coloured alleyways.
Add to that some vibrant sunlight, and it seems this alley is ablaze with colour.

Digital painting using ArtRage 3, acrylic, paint tube, chalk and palette knife tools. Not sure whether it will be visible at this resolution, but also used the paint tube tool on a hidden layer to give the textured finish to the stone walls

Great work, Tom. Love the rough and varied textures you achieved here. Great scene for a painting with a nice directional, inviting flow. : )

  • Thanks Sara, very much appreciated. The textures were an experiment, but I’m pretty pleased with the results! :))
