The Dues

pluck the trees
ton by ton and
life on earth
won’t be so fun
exposin’ the soil
to the sun

washin’ the mountains
down in to the rivers
pluggin’ the fishes’ gills
with our bills
for souvenirs and trinkets
destined for landfills

birth to death and
death to birth
round and round
that’s the way of the earth

joy and blues
the dues
living love in
all of ’er hues

The trees and river bit hits home – I just returned from my third trip to Tasmania, which is suppose to be mostly World Heritage Listed country…something has gone very amiss with the trees and rivers in that space!…not happy.

    Wonderful poetry, by the way.

  • Me, mine, and more washed up on every shore… so sad to hear about Tasmania.
