A collage of photographs from Glasgow’s old Merchant City quarter. There are flowers from the garden commemorating the city’s medieval past and a stencilled cutout representing the Incorporation of Gardeners insignia. The gardeners’ guild once owned the land and there used to be orchards here. The hand is from the Medieval Garden Art Fence. In olden days body parts and everyday objects were used to measure distances and weight. A hand represented 4 inches. I’ve added part of the old brickwork from the rear wall of the property behind The Old College Bar on the corner of High Street and Nicholas Street. Nicholas Street is the last remaining medieval street in Glasgow.
